Frequently asked questions.

What is an InLei Keratin Lash Lift?

InLei® Keratin Lash Lift curls and lifts your natural lashes. However, it is the only treatment in the world clinically proven to thicken the lash hair, increasing thickness by an average of 24% in just three sessions. The difference between a filler and a lift, is that the filler will thicken and nourish the hair without damage. The results are beautifully soft and silky natural lashes that will stay curled 6-8 weeks.

InLei® products are made using the highest quality ingredients available. The products are made and tested rigorously in Italy, which is known for its high standards and stringent quality regulations.

Is a Lash Lift damaging to my natural lashes?

No, but as other services, they must be done correctly. At each visit we will analyze your natural lashes to choose the appropriate processing time, and curl shape to give you beautiful results, without the damage. However, this is a chemical process of the hair structure, and aftercare is very important. Hair must be conditioned daily to avoid damage; we highly recommend purchasing a keratin conditioning treatment, available for purchase, to keep your lashes at optimal health. Be mindful of excessive rubbing, as this can cause the lashes to break. Keeping them nourished will help prevent breakage.

I’ve had a lash lift done before, and all the lashes kinked and twisted. Will this happen again?

This may be a result of a couple things: wrong shaping and/or over-processed. At Elan Artistry we use our extensive knowledge, and expertise to avoid these results. However, proper aftercare plays a major part. To avoid kink, twisting, and unruly growth, we recommend conditioning the lashes daily. Preferably with a Keratin conditioning treatment. By conditioning the lashes, you are replenishing the hair of much needed nourishment to continue to grow. This also helps your lash lift last longer.

I am allergic to lash extensions glue, will the lash lift glue cause allergic reactions?

No, as the components and ingredients of the two are completely different. Lash lift glue is a water soluble, and gentle adhesive. It is only on your skin for a short period of time, and it is removed at the end of the service. If you’re concerned about possible reactions, or you have sensitive skin, we recommend coming in for a patch test 24 hours prior to your appointment.

What is the aftercare of a Lash Lift & Brow Lamination?

Keeping your lashes dry for 24 hours after your appointment is critical in maintaining the health of the lashes. Avoid any kind of moisture such as steam, sweat, mascara, water, swimming, hot tubs, etc. Exposing the lashes to moisture prior to 24 hours can strip the lashes of the much needed moisture provided by the leave-in conditioner. You MUST condition the lashes daily with the Keratin conditioning treatment to keep them strong and moisturized.

What is a Brow Lamination?

Brow Lamination is the reshaping of the brow hairs, thru a perm process. This will help achieve a fluffier, wispier brow, which makes them appear fuller with the new redirection of the brow hair. Brows must be kept moisture-free and dry for 24 hours. Price includes brow cleanup and tint, but not required. NOT recommended for severely sparse hair, or sensitive skin.

What Are Lash Extensions?

Eyelash extensions are the application of an individual synthetic lash to an isolated natural lash. During the consultation, the length and thickness of the extension is determined based on the health of the natural lash, client preferences, eye shape and facial features. The set can be customized from a natural everyday look, to a full and glamorous style. Simplify your morning routine and toss the mascara with lash extensions.

What is the difference between Classic & Volume Extensions?

Classic Extensions are one single, faux mink synthetic lash, attached to one natural lash. This will give you a clean mascara look, and it’s also the most natural.

Volume Extensions are multiple (2-7) much thinner and lightweight, faux mink synthetic fibers attached to one natural lash. These are hand-made fans that will result in a fuller look. It’s a great option for everyone and can be natural or dramatic. Highly recommended for those with very thin and sparse lashes.

Both options give you a certain degree of eye make-up look, you can choose which style lashes to get based on how you like your makeup look to be.

What are Wet Lashes?

This new, and innovative lash extensions style is our most popular option. Instead of one single and thicker extension attached to one natural lash, wet lashes are multiple, super-thin fibers attached to one single natural lash. The results are a beautiful set of extensions that will give you length and fullness unlike classic lashes.

How often are touch-ups/fills required?

his depends on you, and how well you take care of your extensions! Always follow the proper aftercare for best results. Skin type, skin care, make-up wearing, lifestyle and aftercare will play a big part in how well your extensions stick. For fuller results, it is best to come in every couple of weeks for touch-ups. For someone who prefers a more natural look, and doesn’t prefer a very full look, every 3 weeks is usually recommended.

Are there any restrictions with Lash Extensions?

We highly recommend not wearing makeup such as mascara, eyeliner, shimmery/glitter eyeshadows, cream based eye makeup. Do not rub or pick your lashes. Lash Extensions are completely waterproof and comfortable to wear, and we recommend washing them daily to keep your natural lashes clean and healthy. This will extend the retention of your extensions.

Are Lash Extensions damaging to my natural lashes?

No, IF they’re done properly, and properly taken care of. My number one goal as a lash artist will always be to maintain the integrity of the natural lash. Lashes can have a bad reputation, and it’s my goal to always provide you with the best results, but with keeping the health and safety of your own lashes in mind. At each appointment I will give you an update on how your lashes are doing and will advise if we need to make any adjustments. Lash serums aren’t needed, but it can give you that extra confidence that you are keeping your natural lashes healthy while getting extensions. Following all aftercare instructions will ensure your natural lashes stay healthy.

What is the aftercare for Lash Extensions?

Aftercare is the most important part of making sure your extensions last as long as possible, and for the natural lashes to stay healthy. After your appointment is sure to:
• Avoid oil-based products.
• Avoid the use of makeup such as mascara, gel/cream eyeliners, cream shadows.
• Wash them daily with Elan Artistry Foam Cleanser and Cleansing Brush.
• Wash them immediately after swimming, beach-going, or working out. You need to remove the sweat, oil, and debris from the lashes. Gently pat dry with a microfiber cloth and brush them into place.

What products should I avoid using with Eyelash Extensions?

Look for oil-free skincare products. Lash Extension glue breaks down when there is oil, makeup, sweat, etc. Below are recommendations of what to avoid with the most common skincare products used:

Makeup Removers: Read the labels. Liquid makeup removers that separate, or micellar water, are NOT lash extensions approved. Even if they say “oil-free”, they may still contain other ingredients such as glycol, glycerin, etc., that can damage the extensions. These are great to remove makeup, but ALWAYS clean lashes with your Elan Artistry Lash Cleanser as your last step in your cleansing routine.

Eyeliner: Avoid gel, pencil, charcoal and glittery eyeliners. Eyeshadow is ok to use as long as it does not contain glitter, and should not be cream based. We highly recommend our liquid eyeliner, which is safe for lash extensions, and it can be purchased in the salon.

Mascara: Use of any mascara is highly discouraged as it can settle in the lashes and cause the glue to breakdown quicker. It’s also very hard to remove. Mascara is not allowed with volume extensions as it will close and clump up the fans. Wearing mascara on lower lashes can also affect the top lashes.

Eye creams/serums: Many eye creams and facial serums contain ingredients not compatible with eyelash extensions. Even as you apply around the eye area, it tends to travel throughout the face. To minimize retention issues always avoid applying it on the eye lid, or too close to the lash line.

What's the difference between Extensions & Lash Lift?

Extensions will look like you already have makeup on, and reduces the amount of time you need to get ready in the mornings. They also give your lashes a longer and fuller appearance. A lash filler and tint will curl and color the lashes you already have. Both services can provide the look you desire (natural vs. glam), but lash extensions are more customizable when trying to replace the need for makeup.
